goodies!

Went to the petstore today and picked up a few things, they didn't have many toys but I also went to Big W and bought a few toys there, they actually have some good stuff for birds!
I was disappointed the pet store didn't have any natural perches though :(

Also yesterday I grated up some carrot and broccoli and apple for Kirby and Charlie, and I left it there through the night and today. I came home in the afternoon to find Charlie eating it :)
I'm very happy because I've heard lots of people have trouble getting their birds to eat fruit and veg, so I didn't think it would be that easy.

Anyway here's what I picked up:

from the petstore:
I got a pink mineral perch for Kirby, Charlie already has one that is yellow but I didn't get Kirby one at the time because the store only had one!
I got the ladder with the wooden beads on it for Kirbys cage as she has wrecked her old one. although never gotten one with beads before, but thought it looked like fun!
The two feed cups, which I think I'm going to use for water because right now their water cups are on the ground and are constantly getting pooped in!

And some Millet for a treat :)

From Big W:

Two funky feathers toys, with wooden blocks and plastic beads with the bell on the end. One for Kirby one for Charlie :)
And also the Cuttlefish bone.

Its good to find things at Big W as they were much cheaper there, I also saw they had mineral perches at Big W too. which usually I can only find them at petstores.

fruit and veg

made up some yummy fruit and veggie for Kirby and Charlie.
Kirby notices straight away when something new is in the cage, and she is having a good go at eating it.. charlie however has not noticed the yummy veggies yet.. hopefully Charlie will attempt to eat some latter, he probably hasn't ever seen fruit or veggies before!
I've been waiting a little while before introducing new things to either of them due to when Kirby was sick and had diarrhea. But now they are both in good health and learning to eat their pellets a bit so hopefully they will both be eating the fruit and veggies too!

Charlie sits on his swing!!

woohoo! finally Charlie sits on his swing :)

cleaning day

Today it has been raining again non stop, the backyard is becoming flooded and I'v got the house to myself so what better time to do a big clean of the bird cages and toys.  I cleaned Charlies cage first as its always the messiest, because the tray beneath his cage doesn't really catch everything and there ends up seed and feathers being stuck in the corners. After that was done I started on cleaning Kirby's cage, and took all her toys out and re arranged it.

I've wanted to do this for a while to see how charlie and kirby would react in there together if things looked different.
They are still in there now and having some little arguments. they go from preening each other to pushing each other off perches... Im not really sure who is starting it anymore, if Kirby isn't chasing charlie, charlie is chasing kirby...

I think i need to just let them battle it out and get used to the idea of sharing the same space. Charlie is much more active in Kirby's cage and  think if they could get a long more peacefully they would have fun in there together.

Before charlie jumped onto Kirby's swing and I happened to be taking a video... he seemed to not know what to do as it was swinging and he didn't know how to get off *giggles*

ah Kirby is Clawing Charlie... wish I could get a photo. oh now he is doing it to her, nearly fell of perch.  they keep going back to each other for more...
got a video.

sorry if there was spelling mistakes in this, I am half looking at the keyboard and half watching them...

some pics

charlie will follow his food anywhere XD

Kirby loves anything black and shinny....

It's been a little while since I've posted. Kirby and Charlie are doing great.
Charlie has become more and more tame and is such a good boy. He happily gets on my finger to go back to his cage... unlike cheeky Kirby who decides she's going to play hard to catch :)

They are still in separate cages at the moment, but I'm considering moving them in together very soon. I think possibly tomorrow I will do a big cage clean out and rearrange the toys and things.
I'm feeling bad that Charlie just doesn't have enough room in his cage for as many toys. I have noticed him playing with his toys more and when he was in Kirby's cage the other day he jumped onto her swing!
So out I went and bought Charlie a little blue swing, which is like a half circle, with a bell attached (he seems to love bells) and it has a few beads at the top... so far he hasn't sat on it, but I caught him climbing on the bars of his cage and playing with the bell!

He also loves his mineral perch, and often has a bit of a yellow face from rubbing it against it. (the perch is yellow).

I bought Kirby a shredder toy I came across in Big W, she had been obsessively preening before I clipped her wings and seemed stressed maybe from going into condition... I'm not sure. but she didn't touch it for ages and I considered taking it out because it takes up a fair bit of space, but now she has been playing with it all day long every day, she even sleeps on it! haha

anyway thats all for now, might gather some more pictures tomorrow if I clean the cages.
Its been raining all day long, and will probably be the same tomorrow so at least I will have something to do :)
